ANTI-VANDAL GLASS PANELS

DESCRIPTION

Anti-vandal glass is safety glass (tempered or securit) which has been heat treated by tempering. This process has improved their mechanical strength and thermal resistance, so that when the glass breaks, it shatters into small pieces, not so large that they can cause serious injury.

It has increased mechanical strength, which is why it is about five times stronger than ordinary glass.

It has increased thermal resistance, which means that it maintains its characteristics at temperatures from -70 to +295 degrees Celsius.

It is safe to break, so if it breaks it shatters into a large number of small and harmless pieces.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Bulletproof Series 100 – Safety

LEVEL OF PROTECTION:

Simple against accidents

This is the simplest form of multifocal glasses. Two glasses with a membrane between them, where the aim is to avoid injury if, due to an accident, the glass breaks.

The pieces of broken glass tend to remain attached to the interlayer, both by preventing the glass from shattering and the pieces from collapsing on people and by removing the possibility of someone falling on sharp points of the broken glass and injuring themselves.

This category of protection also includes tempered crystals (toughened or commonly called securit), which in case of breakage are shattered into very small and harmless pieces that, even if they fall, do not cause serious injury.

APPLICATIONS:

Glass interior partitions for offices and homes, stairs, balconies, glass structures, shops, offices near playgrounds and sports fields, homes with small children and elderly people.

The level of protection of the hardened crystals

(tempered glass) is specified by EN 12600. The corresponding table is set out below.

PROTECTION LEVEL CRYSTAL THICKNESS

WEIGHT KG/M2

1C3 4 10

1C3 5 12,5

1C2 6 15

1C2 8 20

1C1 10 25

1C1 12 30

1C1 15 37,5

1C1 18 47,5

The same norm is used to determine the level of protection

for multi-sheet crystals (laminated).

The corresponding classification is given below.

LEVEL OF PROTECTION COMPOSITIONS THICKNESS

WEIGHT KG/M2)

2Β2 33. 1 6 15

Β282 44. 1 8 20

1Β1 55. 1 10 25

1Β1 66. 1 12 30

1Β1 33. 2 7 16

1Β1 44. 2 9 21

1Β1 55. 2 11 26

1Β1 66. 2 13 31

EXAMPLES :

1) A multileaf crystal is classified in class 1B1 when it does not penetrate by an object thrown from a height of 1200 mm.

2) A multi-leaf crystal is classified as class 2B2 when not penetrated by an object thrown from a height of 450 mm.

3) A thermally crushed crystal is classified in Class 1C1 if it does not crumble after an object has been thrown from a height of 1200 mm.

Bulletproof Series 200 – Safety & Security

LEVEL OF PROTECTION:

Medium protection and security against acts

Vandalism and burglary

They are offered for protection against vandalism as well as criminal acts such as burglary, and in no case can they be considered bulletproof.

This category includes multi-leaf crystals, which have the ability to prevent deliberate movements by criminals/burglars trying to reach objects behind them.

The resistance of the glasses is, of course, inversely proportional to the time and means available to the attackers. Consequently, the level of protection required varies according to the level of risk.

The internationally accepted standards for anti-crime eyewear result in eight grading categories of anti-vandal and anti-intrusion protection (P1A to P8B).

APPLICATIONS:

Showcases of luxury shops such as: jewellery, optics, electronics, telephony, branded clothing, galleries, museums, banks or apartments, individual houses, holiday homes. etc.
